Shield

Got the shield just about done. Despite how simple it looks, this took about 2 hours. getting teh sybol to be big enough to fill the majority of the shield while still remaining properly oriented was tricky. Also, it's two layers of plasticard glued together, so the edges had to be filed and smoothed to look like one piece.

I tried to pull off a uniform thickness border, but no dice. I'll try a different approach tomorrow. So I think a perimeter of rivets will look nice instead.
Here's the back of the shield:

And here it is sticky-tac'd into place on our hero. I've washed the rune with red to allow it to show a bit better. The shield will be mainly blackmetal and the rune will be painted as if made from lava.

Skin and gore...

After seeing last week's model, some changes needed to be made. The shield needed to be covered in skin, not metal. Also, the gore looked awful, so after seeing this article, I redid the gore. Here's the result:

Completion.

So, hopefully we're done with the paint scheme and details. Here's the finished model:

One more, just one more please???

I wanted to get just a bit more done tonight, so I remembered to do the horns on the helm in bone. It was fairly simple, just 4 layers. I think it looks pretty dern good!

Details, it's all in the details...

So, the horse bits are brighter, the studded cords are bronze, and the base and gore are all that's left.

Rune of Hashut

So, I needed to work in the following rune:

As well as some red to tie into the rest of the army. This is what I came up with (freehand):
